Brian started Arete Mortgage in 2017 after working for years in the mortgage industry. Brian and his family live in the Foster/Powell neighborhood. Aside from spending as much free time as possible with his wife and daughter, Brian enjoys almost any outside activity, catching up with friends over a coffee, and, when possible, traveling!

Matthew Staples

Matt joined Arete Mortgage as a loan originator in 2021 and has a passion for helping first time homebuyers. He lives in the Woodstock neighborhood where he loves cooking and hosting big meals for his friends and family. Matt loves being outside and exploring all the natural beauty of the PNW. You can often find him hiking in the Columbia River Gorge or running through the neighborhoods in SE Portland training for his next marathon.

Patrick joined Arete Mortgage in the Spring of 2023. A life-long Oregonian and avid outdoorsmen, Patrick lives in the heart of Portland with his wife Kelly, and their two children Ira and Hazel. When he’s not going on family bike rides to Grand Central Bakery, you’ll find him busy with his latest home improvement project, or exploring the natural wonders that Oregon has to offer.
